IT IS WITH GREAT REGRET THAT THE
SIGNAL BOX IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
DUE TO THE "CORONA VIRUS" OUTBREAK

Hands-on history, bells, levers and signals - all as the trains fly by.

Come and enjoy a great day out at this historic signal box in St Albans. Right by the four-track mainline station, a free-entry attraction for kids, families and railway enthusiasts of all ages.

Garden model railway, hands-on levers to work signals and a point, bells to ring, historic railways artefacts to browse.  Upstairs see 1970s train movements as signalled by the box. Garden and seating areas for teas, juice and watching the mainline trains glide by. Typical visit 1 to 2 hrs to suit all ages,

Access statementThe site is fully accessible except for the long external flight of eighteen steps to the upper floor of the signal box. For those unable to get upstairs a video of the upstairs workings can be shown downstairs. Accessible toilet and hand washing facilities available on request.

Postcode for satnav users is AL1 3AJ. We are surrounded by parking at the station & in Ridgmont Road. But care should be taken as works are taking place in the car park at present.
